So this was my first attempt at a decorated cake. I promised my sister that I would get a cake for her farewell party in November 2009. I left it too late, and couldn't find anyone available to make what I wanted. So having pondered it for a while, I thought "how hard could it really be?" Famous last words.
This cake was a double height chocolate mud cake, with chocolate ganache, decorated with tempered dark chocolate slats. It has gumpaste hearts and stars and fresh lisianthus flowers for the final touches.
Not bad for a first attempt, and it ignited my passion for decorating and making people smile with a sweet creation.
